The sport's premier league announces 5 tour dates ranging across the US and hints at an international event and further ESPN coverage in 2024.
The World League FlingGolf's New Swarm Tour will wind its way throughout the United States in 2024, featuring three courses that have previously hosted tour events, and adding two more that have built their way up to becoming host locations. In addition, the New Swarm Tour will be supplemented by regional, non-tour events, hosted by local players and courses, that will continue to grow grassroots play throughout the FlingGolf community.
Official tour play will span the country from the Treasure Coast of southern Florida to the hills of San Diego County, the farms and forests of western Pennsylvania, the beaches of Delaware and the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia. Growing FlingGolf play across the pond in the UK has spurred conversations of an international event, and a growing partnership with ESPN may see a different version of past FlingGolf broadcasts by the Worldwide Leader in Sports. Details on these emerging partnerships and events will be forthcoming at a later date.
"We are thrilled to be working with several resorts and course pros that have hosted WLF Tour events in the past, and are excited to welcome two new locations to our tour." said John Pruellage, WLF's Commissioner. "In 2023, some of our top players held a regional tournament in western Pennsylvania at Pine Hills Golf Course in Greenville. That event was so successful and spurred so much additional local play, that it made sense to elevate it to an official WLF stop this year," he said.
Pruellage continued, "It is these regional events across the country that are crucial to driving more FlingGolf play locally and to offering our entire player base more opportunities for competitive play. We are happy to see that there are more and more of them being hosted by dedicated players and ambassadors and we expect to see many more in 2024"

In April, the New Swarm Tour will begin on Florida's Treasure Coast in Port St. Lucie. A new stop on the Tour, the Treasure Coast Open will be held at a combination of the Jensen Beach Golf Club and the RPS Golf Learning Center at Wyndham's Sand Piper Bay Resort. This is where Joe Gerard, Director of Golf Operations at RPS Golf Academy, has laid the groundwork for a vibrant youth FlingGolf community through his additional work as a First Tee and Boys and Girls Clubs Coach.
"We are lucky to have "Coach Lefty" (Joe Gerard) at the helm of FlingGolf on the Treasure Coast and are excited to bring the tour his way," said Alex Van Alen, CEO of New Swarm. "I know a lot of the tour players will be anxious to have a go at the RPS Academy Golf Center and also the challenges of Jensen Beach. I am especially excited to work with Joe to wrap the local younger FlingGolf players into the weekend's activities."
Van Alen continued, "New Swarm is proud to support the league and its actions to recognize the wide appeal of the sport, and develop not only the Men's Division, but also Women's, Seniors, and Teams divisions. All of these player groups are growing rapidly and it has been a no-brainer to offer them each their chance at reaching the top levels of the sport."

The second stop on the Tour, the annual New Swarm Classic, is a return for the 3rd year in a row to American Classic Golf Club in Lewes, DE, the site of the first WLF Tournament back in 2021. "American Classic is synonymous with the growth of FlingGolf and the WLF and this tournament is an anchor of our Tour", said Commissioner Pruellage. "They always go above and beyond for this tournament and it being the home of so many competitive FlingGolfers makes it extra special."
After the Keystone Classic in Western PA, the last two stops will be very familiar to many WLF players. The San Diego Open will be held in September, and again be played at the Welk Resort. "We are pleased to be able work with JC Golf and their courses again in bringing a premier WLF event to Southern California," said Van Alen.
Finally, the traditional last stop on the tour in October will once again be at the Massanutten Resort in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley where it has been held the past two years. "Massanutten Resort is another course that has helped fuel the growth of FlingGolf and having two beautiful, challenging courses at our disposal will make for another memorable event," said Pruellage.
FlingGolf play has taken off in the US since the company appeared on Shark Tank in 2021 and then was picked up by ESPN for events in 2022 and 2023. The growth of FlingGolf in the UK and the fact that the sport has been played in 35 countries to date shows its broad appeal to players, acceptance by golf courses and ease with which it can grow internationally.
Commissioner Pruellage went on to say "The emergence of the WLF in just two years demonstrates the demand for highly competitive play amongst the top players. The fact that, year-over-year, our registrations have grown consistently for these events speaks to the vibrant community within the sport, with players willing to travel across the country for play. We are confident that growth will continue in 2024 not only with our 5 official tour stops, but also with a growing number of regional and other ancillary events."
