Major League Lacrosse kicks off its partnership with PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf at All-Star Weekend
Four MLL All-Stars, including Will Manny, will begin the 2016 All-Star Weekend in Fullerton, CA with a round of FlingGolf.
Boston, MA (July 5, 2016)- Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced a partnership with PlusOne Sports, the creator of FlingGolf, in preparation for the 2016 MLL All-Star Game Weekend. Four All-Star players, including Will Manny of the Boston Cannons, Joel White of the Rochester Rattlers, Drew Snider of the Denver Outlaws, and Scott Rodgers of the Ohio Machine will kick off this partnership with an exciting round of FlingGolf before the All-Star Game.
FlingGolf – an active hybrid of golf and lacrosse – is played on a golf course, with a golf ball, and with a simpler set of rules than golf. Instead of 14 golf clubs, players launch the ball using a single FlingStick, which is a lightweight, carbon fiber stick with a cradle at the end to hold the ball. Golf courses across the country and beyond are embracing FlingGolfers as they seek a younger audience.
“FlingGolf is a young and growing sport, and it meshes perfectly with the energy and youth that we see in the ever expanding lacrosse community,” says Alex Van Alen, CEO of PlusOne Sports. “Partnering with Major League Lacrosse is a no brainer for us. Our excellent experience this year with our home team, the Boston Cannons, and captain Will Manny, has confirmed that lacrosse fans really enjoy the fun and action of FlingGolf.”
Manny, a 2016 All-Star and avid golfer, loves that FlingGolf lets him combine skills from two other sports he loves. “I am looking forward to hitting the course for some friendly All-Star Weekend competition before playing the game on Saturday night,” says Manny. “Having played FlingGolf for quite a while now, I am sure I’ll be able to show them a thing or two on the course.”
Dave Gross, the Commissioner of Major League Lacrosse, says, “We are excited to bring PlusOne Sports and FlingGolf into the fold of Major League Lacrosse and look forward to working with their team to introduce our young and athletic fan base to this exciting new sport. The All-Star weekend is a fantastic venue to start things off.”
The 2016 All-Star Game will be held at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California on July 9th at 4:00 p.m. PST. Tickets start at $30 for individual tickets with discounted prices for groups of 10 or more and are available online directly at the event page via bit.ly/mllallstar. The game will feature a halftime and post-game performance by double-platinum recording artist, Kid Ink, and will be broadcasted nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Sacramento, CA. Jeremy Sieverts, Midfielder for the Denver Outlaws, won the 2017 Major League Lacrosse All-Star FlingGolf Invitational on Saturday morning, held at Haggin Oaks Golf in Sacramento. In addition to the $1000 winners purse, Sieverts took home an additional $500 as he also won the closest to the pin on the 14th hole (sponsored by TourMark Grips), and longest fling on the 18th hole. Eric Law, also of the Denver Outlaws came in second, and Brian Phipps of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, came in third in the field of 8 MLL All Stars.
"It was a great experience to be in Sacramento for All Star Weekend and to be able to compete against some of the best lacrosse players in the world on a golf course with FlingGolf as well as the lacrosse field", Sieverts said. 'It was fun to play FlingGolf for the first time and quickly pick up on both distance and accuracy of the FlingStick... and certainly always fun to compete with other MLL Players."
