World League FlingGolf, Junior FlingStick debut at PGA Show 2020

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: January 16, 2020

WORLD LEAGUE FLINGGOLF, JUNIOR FLINGSTICK TO DEBUT AT 2020 PGA MERCHANDISE SHOW

Amesbury, MA – New Swarm Sports, the creator of the alt-golf sport FlingGolf, announced today that it will introduce the World League FlingGolf (WLF) at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. The WLF will more effectively assist PGA Pros and golf course management in promoting the sport and generating revenue from a new generation of players.

New Swarm originally debuted FlingGolf to PGA Pros at the 2015 PGA Show, demonstrating its original AK-1 FlingStick.  At the 2019 show, New Swarm debuted the AK-2 FlingStick with the striker pad for an improved putting experience, and this year, due to demand for a FlingStick to accommodate younger players and junior programs, New Swarm will have a new Junior FlingStick available for demo.

Since its roll out, FlingGolf has been played on over 1000 golf courses in more than a dozen countries across the globe, with FlingSticks sold to players and courses in every state in the US.  Many PGA Pros, golf course managers, superintendents and owners have embraced FlingGolf as a fun, active and athletic alternative to golf, because it can be played seamlessly with traditional golfers and requires no changes to their course.

Rock Morrison, owner of American Classic Golf Club in Lewes, Delaware, added FlingGolf to his course in 2019.  “We see kids playing FlingGolf and adults playing regular golf at the same time.  It’s increased our business by 20-30%.”

At Massanutten Resort in Gaithersburg, Virginia, PGA Pro Brett Mowbray was an early adopter of FlingGolf, introducing it to his course in 2015.  It has brought in revenue of over $200,000 since then.  “The biggest thing is it allows people to do stuff with their families.  Whether they are avid golfers or not, they are able to play regular golf and FlingGolf side by side.”

Among its players, FlingGolf has achieved cult status, with many making it a mission to be the first to “liberate” golf courses that have never had FlingGolf played on them before.  Several players have liberated dozens of courses each, being sure to bring their FlingStick with them as they travel. Individual players report liberating courses during travel to as far flung places as Costa Rica, Morocco, Australia and New Zealand.

Until now, New Swarm Sports has managed the growth of the sport through loose partnerships with golf courses and a close connection to its player community.  “We have long felt the need to not only formalize the governance of the sport, but also create an entity that can work tirelessly to promote the sport for the benefit of both its players and the courses where they play.” said New Swarm Founder Alex Van Alen.  “With what we have learned over the last several years, we have vastly improved our ability to help golf courses market directly to their communities and bring in more players.  We know there are thousands of golf courses that can benefit by introducing FlingGolf, so helping bring players and courses together will be one of World League FlingGolf’s primary roles moving forward in 2020.”

New Swarm/World League FlingGolf will be at boothT-1 at the PGA Show Demo Day at Orange Country National on Tuesday, January 21 and will be available to talk with PGA Pros and managers on the floor at Booth 1821 January 22-24.  Additionally, New Swarm/WLF will be at the Golf Industry Show, also in Orlando, January 29 and 30 in Booth 5929.
