The National Golf Course Owners Association and PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf have formed a partnership to promote the sport of FlingGolf through golf courses and to individual players throughout the United States. "NGCOA is excited to welcome PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf as our newest partner. We look forward to working closely together to drive new young players to fill empty tee times and drive additional revenue to our members through this partnership," said Jay Karen, CEO of the NGCOA.
FlingGolf is played on a golf course, with a golf ball and can be played in the same foursome as golfers. Using a single FlingStick designed by PlusOne Sports, a player throws the golf ball from the tee down the fairway and ultimately glides it in to the hole on the green. Just in its second full season, the sport is being played on hundreds of golf courses throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The sport is often likened to snowboarding in that it is bringing young players and new revenue to underused courses, just as snowboarding did for ski resorts starting in the 1980s and 1990s.
“It is very satisfying to grow our partnership with the National Golf Course Owners Association and look forward to creating new revenue for their members”, said Alex Van Alen, CEO and Founder of PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf. “Since we first introduced the concept of this fun and active new sport to the NGCOA, they have seen the promise that it holds in introducing thousands of new players to their member courses. Since owners don’t need to make any changes to their course to be FlingGolf friendly, it is very simple for them to welcome the new players.”
PlusOne Sports created, promotes and governs the sport of FlingGolf and developed and distributes the patented FlingStick, the only equipment needed to play. The company is located in Ipswich, MA. For more information, visit www.flinggolf.com.
Established in 1979 and headquartered in Charleston, S.C., the NGCOA is the leading authority on the business of golf course ownership and management. The Association represents the industry’s key decision makers with ultimate responsibility for golf courses throughout the world. The not-for-profit organization is the only trade association dedicated exclusively to golf course owners and operators. For more information, visit www.ngcoa.org.
Sacramento, CA. Jeremy Sieverts, Midfielder for the Denver Outlaws, won the 2017 Major League Lacrosse All-Star FlingGolf Invitational on Saturday morning, held at Haggin Oaks Golf in Sacramento. In addition to the $1000 winners purse, Sieverts took home an additional $500 as he also won the closest to the pin on the 14th hole (sponsored by TourMark Grips), and longest fling on the 18th hole. Eric Law, also of the Denver Outlaws came in second, and Brian Phipps of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, came in third in the field of 8 MLL All Stars.
"It was a great experience to be in Sacramento for All Star Weekend and to be able to compete against some of the best lacrosse players in the world on a golf course with FlingGolf as well as the lacrosse field", Sieverts said. 'It was fun to play FlingGolf for the first time and quickly pick up on both distance and accuracy of the FlingStick... and certainly always fun to compete with other MLL Players."
