For Immediate Release
November 21, 2016
The National Golf Course Owners Association and PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf have formed a partnership to promote the sport of FlingGolf through golf courses and to individual players throughout the United States. "NGCOA is excited to welcome PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf as our newest partner. We look forward to working closely together to drive new young players to fill empty tee times and drive additional revenue to our members through this partnership," said Jay Karen, CEO of the NGCOA.
FlingGolf is played on a golf course, with a golf ball and can be played in the same foursome as golfers. Using a single FlingStick designed by PlusOne Sports, a player throws the golf ball from the tee down the fairway and ultimately glides it in to the hole on the green. Just in its second full season, the sport is being played on hundreds of golf courses throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The sport is often likened to snowboarding in that it is bringing young players and new revenue to underused courses, just as snowboarding did for ski resorts starting in the 1980s and 1990s.
“It is very satisfying to grow our partnership with the National Golf Course Owners Association and look forward to creating new revenue for their members”, said Alex Van Alen, CEO and Founder of PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf. “Since we first introduced the concept of this fun and active new sport to the NGCOA, they have seen the promise that it holds in introducing thousands of new players to their member courses. Since owners don’t need to make any changes to their course to be FlingGolf friendly, it is very simple for them to welcome the new players.”
PlusOne Sports created, promotes and governs the sport of FlingGolf and developed and distributes the patented FlingStick, the only equipment needed to play. The company is located in Ipswich, MA. For more information, visit www.flinggolf.com.
Established in 1979 and headquartered in Charleston, S.C., the NGCOA is the leading authority on the business of golf course ownership and management. The Association represents the industry’s key decision makers with ultimate responsibility for golf courses throughout the world. The not-for-profit organization is the only trade association dedicated exclusively to golf course owners and operators. For more information, visit www.ngcoa.org.
How cool is that? Major League Lacrosse and New York Lizards Star Paul Rabil got a few FlingSticks and brought them out to Laytonsville Golf Course in Maryland for the 2nd Annual Rabil Companies Challenge: Lacrosse vs FlingGolf.

MLL and PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf renew partnership for 2017
FlingGolf to be featured at 2017 MLL All-Star Game
BOSTON (April 11, 2017) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor professional lacrosse league, and PlusOne Sports, the creator of FlingGolf, announced today they will continue to partner for the 2017 MLL season. The partnership will build off the lacrosse community’s growing participation in this rapidly growing and complimentary young sport and will be showcased prior to the 2017 MLL All-Star Game in Sacramento, Calif.
“After last year’s successful introduction of FlingGolf to MLL players and fans, it is exciting to welcome back PlusOne Sports to participate in the league’s activities for the entire season,” MLL Commissioner David Gross said, “including, the MLL All-Star FlingGolf Open prior to our All-Star Game on July 8. The players are looking forward to participating in what will be a fun and competitive event before they hit the lacrosse field.”
FlingGolf is an active hybrid of golf and lacrosse that is played on a golf course, with a golf ball, and with a simpler set of rules than golf.
PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf has recognized Woodstone Meadows Golf Course in McGaheysville Virginia as the 2016 FlingGolf Course of the Year. FlingGolf is the energetic new sport now played on hundreds of golf courses across the USA, Canada and internationally. WoodStone Meadows Golf Course is a part of the family-friendly Massanutten Resort.
Alex Van Alen, Founder of PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf, stated, “Brett Mowbray, the PGA Pro and Director for Golf Operations at Massanutten Resort, has developed a program at Woodstone Meadows that has become the example for other courses and resorts to emulate. He has recognized the fun, family-friendly character that FlingGolf brings to golf courses, and has made it easy for new players to enjoy the beauty and challenges of the course. It is a testament to Brett’s vision as well as Massanutten’s dedication to the enjoyment of their guests that they saw over 1600 rounds of FlingGolf played in 2016 and have seen well over 3000 rounds played since first introducing the sport.
“It has been a lot of fun seeing FlingGolf grow here”, stated Mowbray.
