What did Austin Ebersole Accomplish on October 2?

More than just 100 holes of FlingGolf.

On Monday, October 2, Austin Ebersole, World League FlingGolf's #1 ranked player, joined 4 traditional golfers at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware to help raise funds for Youth on Course.  But Austin did more than just raise funds to help get kids out on golf courses.  His appearance helped further cement FlingGolf's role as a seamless partner to the traditional game.

Austin (aka Showtime), who has been a golf teaching pro at American Classic Golf Club for years, played only with his single signature "Encore" FlingStick, and along with 4 traditional golfers, they raised over $22,000 and played the same course at the same time.  While it has been known for years that FlingGolf played seamlessly with traditional golf, Austin's appearance at the traditional DuPont CC in an event that is played all over the country by hundreds of traditional golfers, made the day a special one for the FlingGolf community.

Showtime's Final Stats:

Funds Raised for Youth On Course: $4,465 and counting

100 Holes

  • 83 Reggies (Greens in Regulation)
  • 75 Pars
  • 7 Birdies
  • 18 Bogeys,
  • 0 Double Bogeys
  • +11 Gross / -72 Net (subtracting reggies)
  • Nearly 42,000 steps total
In Austin's words: "The 100 hole hike to help support Youth on Course was a major victory in many ways, and it's safe to say that FlingGolf has earned the respect of many. As a collective group, we raised over $22,000 for the kids and FlingGolf was widely accepted by everyone who attended the event. In my eyes, both goals were accomplished and in big ways!"
"For me, the hike was extremely challenging around the 75th hole, but the endless motivational messages and donations were flying in all day and it gave me the drive I needed to keep going. I am proud of how well I played, but more importantly I was just feeling grateful and blessed all day to have the kind of support that I did from this community. I was never going to quit as I'm as stubborn and tough as it gets, but the love and support made it that much easier for me to keep going."
From Dan Scofield of the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP), who coordinated the hike locally for Youth On Course: "GAP's 100-Hole Hike was one we were anticipating all year long, and we were lucky enough to work with a group of five spectacular ambassadors, hiking 100 holes and helping support the future of our game. Austin Ebersole, "Showtime" as we all know him, was one of those hikers. Austin's dedication to this fundraising event was incredible to watch, and along the way helped spread the word about FlingGolf to our region's audience. As he often said throughout the day, golf and FlingGolf share the same fairways, and we couldn't be more proud to have shared that venue together with Austin this past Monday at DuPont Country Club."
Finally, from Austin: "For the FlingGolf community, I hope that everyone is excited and realizes this was a huge moment for our sport. Many people who attended the event left believing that we are athlete's and belong on the golf course! I think seeing me fix my 83 ball marks on the greens also earned their respect haha!"

Congratulations and I knew you are “tough as nails” and would finish. Beyond that, that you would represent all of us Fling Golfers well and strive to lead all the other participants through that 100th hole grind while growing the game for everyone especially the kids. Hey, What time was it when you all finished?? Answer “Showtime”!!
