Competitive FlingGolf play and a growing global community help drive record engagement for FlingGolf in 2026

With 4 World League FlingGolf stops across the US in the New Swarm Tour, a late summer visit to the UK where Team USA competed against Team Europe in FlingGolf’s Britain’s Cup, growing play in Asia and Australia, as well as over a dozen Regional US Tournaments, awareness of the emerging sport and engagement with the FlingGolf platforms have more than tripled in 2026 compared to the same period of 2025.

WLF players like Austin Ebersole, Sam Scannell, Garry Callis Jr, Jeff Harvey, Amy Lewis and Britt Hammond are becoming household names within and even beyond the FlingGolf community, through their on course play as well as their social media production.

Meanwhile, Jacob Hooter stepped firmly on to the national stage in 2026 by winning the Men's Division of the Low Country Open at Old South Golf Links (SC) by 10 strokes.  That was broadcast across the US on ESPN2 and wasWLF’s 5th appearance on ESPN. Cumulatively those tournaments have been seen in an estimated 2 Million households.

This attention to the competitive play, combined with an avid community that reaches well beyond the borders of the US, has driven engagement in FlingGolf platforms to an impressive 42 million views so far in 2026.

Alex Van Alen, the founder of FlingGolf and CEO of New Swarm, believes this spike in awareness of the emerging sport is just the beginning of a larger trend. “What we’ve seen this year has been amazing, but everyone in the FlingGolf community can sense where this is ultimately going. You can see it not in just our views, but also in the amount of new courses being played, new groups of people jumping in to the game, and continued coverage in the media from ESPN to Forbes. We fully expect those multiples to continue into 2027 and 2028.”

In 2026, the decision was made to reorganize the WLF Tour, by creating different levels of competition.  Evolving from 10 overall tournaments in 2025, the tour developed 4 New Swarm Pro Series stops and over a dozen official Regional Tournaments in 2026 for two reasons. The first was to concentrate prize money and rankings with the highest level play, allowing top players to focus their attention on fewer events. The second was to build up Regional Tournaments throughout the United States that created more opportunities for players of every level to get some competition under their belt. The result was more WLF Regional Tournaments that also grew greater awareness of the sport and community in each location in which they occurred.

John Pruellage is the Commissioner of World League FlingGolf, which oversees the US Tour, certifies the Britain’s Cup and is the guiding force behind the Regional Tournaments and competitive FlingGolf play at every level. “We knew there was more opportunity for growth in the sport by supporting both our top WLF Pros as well as players interested in putting on these Regional Tournaments. The result has been an even stronger grass roots foundation for the sport, as well as a huge increase in awareness across the sport’s digital platforms.”

Plans are solidifying for 2027 for the entire FlingGolf ecosystem of competitive play, US and international growth of the sport, and the development of a digital platform for the entire player community to use both socially, casually and competitively.  With the wind at the FlingGolf's back, and more people engaging with the sport than ever before, expectations are high for even bigger accomplishments ahead for players, partners and the entire global FlingGolf community.
