World League FlingGolf held the third stop on the 2023 New Swarm Tour at Boomerang Links Golf Course in Greeley Colorado on July 15 and 16. Players and Teams flew in from as far west as Hawaii and as far east as Maine to battle it out in the Men's and Women's Individual Championships, the Teams Championship and the Volvik LFC-3 Longest FlingShot Championship.
Competition was fierce as a new level of play was reached by the WLF's Top Players, each pushing the other to see where this sport can go.
The Women's Championship. 3 players emerged from the 18 hole preliminary: Krysta "Birdie of Prey" Smith, Britt "Reggie Queen" Morrison and Rosie "Mamacita" Flores. Heading into the 9 hole playoff, Krysta had a commanding lead over Britt and Rosie and continued to play top level FlingGolf for the win, with Britt taking second and Rosie taking third.

The Men's Championship. At the end of the preliminary round, 6 men stood out and moved on to the Final Round: Austin "Showtime" Ebersole led the field, followed by Colorado native and host, Ken "Kenzo" Pytluk, Jake "Island Hopper" Anderson, Sam "Scantron" Scannell, Jamie "Flyin' Rhino" Braley and Ryan "Soldier Boy" Stainbrook.
When the finals were complete, Austin showed his focus and accuracy accumulating a gaudy 26 reggies on 27 holes for a Gross Score of 111 and Net 85, allowing him to capture his second WLF Championship (Virginia '22) and become the first repeat champ on the tour. He was followed by Ken, Jake, Sam, Jamie and Ryan who all finished in the same order as they did in the preliminary.

Teams Championship. Sunday saw the teams come to battle it out in the heat, and after a fast moving alternate shot format finished up 18 holes, 5 teams moved on to the Finals. Apex FC led the way with Vipers FC, Spartan FC, Savage FS and Flyin' Birdies (only Co-Ed team) following. When all was said and done, Apex FC nailed 8 birdies in the final 9 holes to take their third Teams trophy in a row. Vipers FC was safe in second, and third place came down to the wire with Spartan FC edging out Savage FlingSquad on the final hole.

Sam and Austin, Apex FC: That's a lot of FlingBling!
Volvik LFC-3 Longest FlingShot Championship Over 20 participants came out on Saturday evening, dodging a thunderstorm, including the LFC-2 Champ, Brooks "Big Country" Medford. After the qualifying round was complete, the 5 finalists were Sam, Brooks, Jamie, Ken and Jake. Sam made a final move up to the top of the leaderboard using an XXL BalliStick and a Volvik Crystal, cracking 208 yards into a head wind to take the belt. Krysta was the top Female contender with a 171 yard FlingShot. A special thanks to VolvikUSA for sponsoring the LFC-3!

As has been the tradition at every WLF Tournament to date, we have seen players of many skill levels and experience try their hands against the top in the game, but more importantly contribute to the "Best Community in Sports" through competition, fun and camaraderie that has come to define the FlingGolf experience.
As the sport continues to grow, and fans become more tuned in to the top players on tour leading the awareness of the sport, support from all who come to enjoy these tournaments remain the bread and butter for WLF events and the continued growth of FlingGolf.
Thank you to all who participated, and thank you also to Tournament hosts Ken and Kelly Pytluk, all of the staff at Boomerang Golf Course, especially Head Golf Pro Marc Silva, and the Outback Pub for helping make the WLF Colorado Open and New Swarm Saturday Night a wild success.
