The first stop on the 2023 WLF Tour was San Diego, which was filmed for a segment to be broadcast by ESPN later this summer. This tournament was the first WLF event to be held on the west coast and was held at two different courses: The Welk for the team doubles tournament and Twin Oaks Golf Course for the individual championship.
Despite less than ideal weather, the best FlingGolfers battled it out and produced epic finishes in all competitions.
Apex FlingCrew - featuring Sam "Scantron" Scannell and Austin "Showtime" Ebersole - held on to win against 4 other teams in the finals.
Sam "Scantron" Scannell bested Jake "Island Hopper" Anderson by one stroke with a birdie after an additional sudden death playoff hole was needed!
Birdie of Prey, Krysta Smith, pulled away from the Women's field on the back nine and secured a two stroke victory.
The Welk offers a pair of 18-hole layouts, the Oaks Course and the Fountains Course. Built in 1964, both courses are scenic golf courses near Escondido, CA and designated by GOLF DIGEST as “Best Places to Play.” Click for the Scorecard and Course Layout.
Located in San Marcos in North San Diego Country, Twin Oaks Golf Course offers a fine balance between beauty and challenge. Fairways can be narrow and the greens are quick and true. Click here for the scorecard and course layout.
