Old South Golf Links to Host First Stop on World League FlingGolf’s 2026 New Swarm Tour
Bluffton, S.C. course to welcome top FlingGolf pros March 13-15 ; ESPN2 airing planned for summer
BLUFFTON, S.C. (February 27, 2026) — Old South Golf Links will host the first stop of World League FlingGolf’s 2026 New Swarm Tour on March 13-15, 2026, bringing elite FlingGolf competition to the Lowcountry. The event will be filmed for a planned ESPN2 airing this summer.
Old South Golf Links General Manager Scott Adams was among the earliest golf operators in the country to recognize FlingGolf’s potential to broaden participation on a traditional golf course — not by replacing golf, but by welcoming new players onto the same fairways, alongside golfers. That early adoption has grown steadily over the last decade, and in 2026 Old South will be one of only four host venues on the New Swarm Tour’s Pro Series.
“I first learned about FlingGolf through the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) back in 2014, and I immediately saw something different,” said Adams. “It’s a sport you can learn fast, and you play it right on the golf course alongside traditional golfers. It’s simple and fun — one stick, no club selection, no practice swings, no divots — and the rules are easy to understand. The pace is faster, and people feel successful quicker. Most importantly, it opens the door for new players.”
FlingGolf founder Alex Van Alen recalled Old South’s early support as the sport began building momentum.
“I remember Scott calling me up and placing an order, after which I stopped by Old South for a demo day,” said Van Alen. “I think there were three people that showed up. It was the very beginning and while we all believed in the sport, no one knew what to expect. Now, years later, FlingGolf has been played on over 3,000 golf courses in 43 countries. Old South was one of the first, but today the list includes places like St. Andrews Old Course and Torrey Pines, along with courses at every level of play.”
Like other emerging sports, it takes time for awareness to catch up to participation — but FlingGolf’s growth has been accelerated by how seamlessly it fits into the golf ecosystem. Players can share the same tee times and rounds, meaning friends and families can play together even if they choose different sports. And because the learning curve is quick, many first-timers can get off the first tee with confidence after a short introduction and a bucket of balls — while still leaving plenty of room to develop real skill, especially around the greens.
World League FlingGolf has hosted tournaments across the U.S. and the U.K. through the FlingGolf UK Chapter since 2022, with multiple ESPN airings already completed. Old South’s stop on the 2026 tour is positioned to become the league’s next televised showcase.
“I couldn’t have hand-picked a better place than Old South to kick off our 2026 season,” said John Pruellage, Commissioner of World League FlingGolf. “We’ve gotten great feedback from many of our pros who have played the course. Combine that with the history Scott and Old South have with the beginnings of FlingGolf, and you’ve got a perfect scenario for a successful tournament. And with the planned ESPN exposure this summer, it’s an opportunity for people to see what the sport is — and for Old South to get the attention it deserves.”
Adams believes the tournament is a natural fit for Old South’s brand and setting.
“Old South is an award-winning sanctuary — Lowcountry golf at its finest,” Adams said. “To have the best FlingGolfers in the country competing here to start the 2026 season is the perfect match. And with ESPN involved, the exposure for both the sport and the course is going to be huge.”
World League FlingGolf’s 2026 Pro Series Tour will also include stops in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Missouri, along with the Britain’s Cup near London in September.
