It is amazing since we at PlusOne Sports introduced FlingGolf in February 2014 at the National Golf Course Owners Association Annual Meeting in Orlando, that this awesome young sport has been embraced by hundreds of golf courses across the US and beyond (see our course map for courses where FlingGolf is welcome) and our community has grown to many thousands of players. This past weekend we had the very special opportunity to be in North Carolina to help roll FlingGolf out at Pinehurst, aka "the Cradle of American Golf", which, since 1895 has been the home of multiple US Opens, Ryder Cups, US Amateurs and many other huge golf tournaments.
Although we knew FlingGolf had everything going for it; fun, athleticism, and just plain awesomeness, FlingGolf at Pinehurst still says a lot about the sport's ability to bring action and fun to golf courses with no negatives for golfers or courses, and we appreciate the invite and hospitality from Director of Golf Ben Bridgers and his staff. You only have to look at how the ski resorts came around to accept snowboarders to understand how FlingGolf is starting to shake things up in a very fun way in the "golf" world.
On Friday and Saturday, well over 100 people came out and learned the few "get started" techniques with their choice of a FlingStick on the first hole of the Cradle. Once they had the technique, we let them grip it and rip it for a closest-to-the-pin contest. The fact that our two winners were 2 feet 9 inches on Friday and 3 feet 11 inches on Saturday, pretty much sums it up how quickly players can get started and out on the course with their FlingSticks. Contestants ranged from 5 to 75 and included men, women, families, golfers and non-golfers.
Once the contests had ended, we took to the beautiful 9 hole Par 3 course designed by Gil Hanse, to go and set a FlingGolf course record. Holes ranged from 60 to 120 yards, with waste areas, bunkers, elevation and very fast greens to create a unique and challenging hour of fun. A 32 was recorded and I am sure, with the enthusiasm we saw at this unbelievable resort, that record will fall soon.
Golf Central Magazine details the use of FlingGolf by the US Military to increase access and use of their courses by young soldiers, sailors and their families across the country and overseas.

In the September/October Issue of the New England Lacrosse Journal, they cover FlingGolf's growth in the lacrosse world and golf course owners desire to bring in new young athletes to their courses. Great mentions of our partners, the Boston Cannons and Major League Lacrosse and a throwback to the 2017 MLL ALL Star FlingGolf Invitational in Sacramento.
