MLL and PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf renew partnership for 2017

FlingGolf to be featured at 2017 MLL All-Star Game

BOSTON (April 11, 2017) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor professional lacrosse league, and PlusOne Sports, the creator of FlingGolf, announced today they will continue to partner for the 2017 MLL season. The partnership will build off the lacrosse community’s growing participation in this rapidly growing and complimentary young sport and will be showcased prior to the 2017 MLL All-Star Game in Sacramento, Calif.

“After last year’s successful introduction of FlingGolf to MLL players and fans, it is exciting to welcome back PlusOne Sports to participate in the league’s activities for the entire season,” MLL Commissioner David Gross said, “including, the MLL All-Star FlingGolf Open prior to our All-Star Game on July 8. The players are looking forward to participating in what will be a fun and competitive event before they hit the lacrosse field.”

FlingGolf is an active hybrid of golf and lacrosse that is played on a golf course, with a golf ball, and with a simpler set of rules than golf. Instead of 14 golf clubs, players launch and shape every shot using a single FlingStick, which is a lightweight, carbon fiber stick and similar to its inspiration, lacrosse, has a cradle at the end to hold then release the ball. FlingGolf is being embraced by thousands of players across the country and internationally and welcomed on hundreds of golf courses as they seek a younger, energetic audience.

“Since our introduction to the fans of Major League Lacrosse during their All-Star weekend in 2016, FlingGolf has become embedded in the lacrosse community, and we have seen our sport grow rapidly,” said Alex Van Alen, CEO and Founder of PlusOne Sports/FlingGolf. “Our partnership with MLL allows us to engage with its young, athletic and active fan base, exactly the type of players that have adopted our sport. We enjoy providing those fans the opportunity to take their lacrosse skills to the golf course and become multi-sport players.”

The 2017 All-Star Game will be held at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento on July 8. Tickets to the All-Star Game are on sale now here.
