Resort Breaks Away from Tradition and Offers Alternatives to Golf, Inviting Players of All Ages and Skill Sets
McGaheysville, Va.– April 16, 2018 – Massanutten Resort, a premier all-season resort in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, is getting everyone in on the game this spring, inviting golfers and guests of all ages and skill levels to hit the links with unique alternatives to traditional golf, including FlingGolf, GolfBoards, and more.
“We are always looking at different ways to encourage guests to get out on our two fantastic golf courses,” said Kenny Hess, director of sports and safety at Massanutten Resort. “Whether they are beginners or seasoned players, the additions to the resort’s golf offerings this year are definitely a welcome enhancement and we’re excited to see new types of players getting involved in the sport.”
FlingGolf, the Future of the Fairway
FlingGolf – best described as a hybrid of golf and lacrosse – is played exactly as imagined, on a golf course, with a regulation golf ball, and no modifications to the course are required.
Players use a FlingStick, a lightweight, carbon fiber stick with a high-tech cradle for the ball at the end, allowing the ball to travel over 200 yards. Due to the simple nature of the game, traditional golfers and those who prefer FlingGolf can play in the same group – which makes this twist on a classic perfect for families, couples and groups.
FlingGolf is offered daily at both of Massanutten Resort’s 18-hole golf courses, Woodstone Meadows Golf Course, situated at the base of the mountain and featuring picturesque fairways, and Mountain Greens Golf Course, known for its steeply-terraced tees.
“Surf the Earth” on a GolfBoard
Golfers and FlingGolfers alike can now surf the fairways from shot-to-shot on a GolfBoard.
Powered by an environmentally friendly lithium-ion battery, the GolfBoard is an easy-to-ride, fully electric vehicle that adds a whole new level of fun and excitement, changing the way golfers experience the game.
GolfBoards are available for rent on the Woodstone Meadows Golf Course, along with the existing fleet of golf carts. Guests must be 16 years of age or older to operate a GolfBoard.
Massanutten Resort’s Campfire Grill is the place to gather after a round of golf, paying homage to the great outdoors by serving homemade chili, mouth-watering skillet dishes, and popular campfire treats.
Residents and visitors alike can now enjoy the resort’s weekly “9 & Dine” event, including nine holes of golf, prizes, and a delicious dinner at Campfire Grill. The event is $55 per person, and available for reservation at Mountain Greens Golf Course.
